Plant vs Undead: How to Start Playing the NFT Game | Complete Guide

A step-by-step guide to one of the most popular free blockchain games, Plant vs Undead (PVU), where your plants fight the undead to protect their land.

Meet Plant vs Undead (PVU)

People can see some (many) similarities between Plant vs Undead and Plants vs Zombies. The NFT oriented game is a spin-off from Plants vs Zombies, borrowing several elements that make this game so awesome and addictive.

If you've played Plants vs Zombies, you'll easily understand Plant vs Undead.

The concept is pretty much the same, as are the updates that players can collect or purchase later.

In Plant vs Undead, players need to build an army of plants in their gardens to eliminate the undead monsters.

They can scatter their plants across the field in any formation they like and attack the undead as they continue across the field.

Although some opponents can travel to the other side, the resource is often limited. Staying below this limit is crucial to winning the game.

Starting your journey in Plant vs Undead (PVU)

In the current version of plant vs undead, players can experience the cultivation mode. It revolves around planting seeds, irrigating the farm and collecting energy resources.

These Light Energy (LE) can be converted to the native PVU token and traded on various decentralized exchanges (DEX).

Light Energy is obtained by harvesting seeds or performing the daily mission, which involves watering other players' plants.

There are several steps to complete before you start your farming journey in Plant vs Undead.

Step 1: Acquire five PVU tokens

Players' first objective in becoming a gardener in Plant vs Undead is to acquire five PVU tokens or more. You can use MetaMask to complete this step easily.

Step 2: Add some BNB tokens

It may sound strange, but users need a little bit of BNB Faucet (Binance Coin) in their wallets.

This BNB is used for gas rates during gameplay, as Plant vs Undead is native to Binance Smart Chain.

Although fees are minimal, keeping a small amount of BNB in your wallet is crucial.

Step 3: Login Plantar vs Undead

Once funding is secured, go to Plant vs Undead Marketplace and navigate to the Farm section.

You will be notified to connect your MetaMask wallet, which involves a few mouse clicks.

If you find an error, don't panic as the game is still in the beta testing phase.

One of its features involves a “batch scheduling system” where players are given lots. Each batch can only be played during specific hours.

Although you'll see a timer indicating when you can play, it may not match your time zone or preferences.

Although the developers are working on several improvements, this is the downside of the game in its current form. Once you log into the game, the real fun begins!

Step 4: from PVU to LE

The five PVUs – or more – that you obtained previously need to be converted to Light Energy (LE). All tools and seeds in Farm Mode require the purchase of LE instead of PVU.

You will see a blue trade button in the upper right corner of the screen. Click the button and convert PVU to LE

Step 5: Acquire Land

All Plant vs Undead players receive free installments. There is a mother tree and five spaces for plants. Your objective is to plant sunflowers.

Claiming land is done using the “Lands” tab in the Farm section.

Step 6: Get some tools

Visit the Shop – the pink button on the left of the screen – to start buying farm tools.

Each sunflower requires a small pot and a set of water, which can be used a maximum of 100 times.

It might be worth buying a scarecrow to grow LE every day.

All tools cost small amounts of LE, so plan your purchases carefully.

Make sure you click the buy button only once, even if nothing seems to happen right away. The server may experience a slight delay, so clicking the button multiple times will result in multiple purchases.

Step 7: Obtain Sunflower Seeds

In the Store section, you will see a “Sunflower” tab. Click to buy sunflower seeds.

Buying a sunflower seedling for 100 LE will get you 250 LE after three days.

Sunflower Mama costs 200 LE, but rewards 850 LE after six days.

Playing with the Sun Box is an option as it offers some fascinating rewards:

  • A 30% chance of receiving 100x water and 20x scarecrows
  • A 30% chance of receiving 2x small pots
  • 30% chance to receive 1 sunflower seedling
  • A 9,9% chance of receiving 1x Sunflower Mama
  • A 0,1% chance of receiving 1x seed

Whether or not these odds are worth it is a personal decision.

Step 8: Start planting and watering sunflowers

After buying seeds and watering cans, we can start planting sunflowers!

Navigate to the Terrain tab, select an available terrain. Go to the Sunflower tab and select your favorite plant.

Then navigate to the farm tab, where you will find the option “add pot to start growing”.

Click on the plant slot and click the "Use" button.

Players need to water their plants twice using the watering can icon twice.

Step 9: Explore other farms

As part of the daily quest, you can take care of other players' plants. Your sunflowers will take a few days to mature before LE can be harvested.

Watering a plant can yield a sunflower seedling, although the chances are pretty low:

  • If the water count ranges from 0–19, there is a 10% chance of getting 1 sunflower seedling.
  • If the water count ranges from 20–39, there is a 9% chance of getting 1 sunflower seedling.
  • If the water count ranges between 40-59, there is an 8% chance of getting 1 sunflower seedling.
  • If the water count ranges between 60-79, there is a 7% chance of getting 1 sunflower seedling.
  • If the water count ranges between 80-99, there is a 6% chance of getting 1 sunflower seedling.
  • If the water count varies between 100 or more, there will never be a drop of seedlings.
  • Click the “Plant” tag to water the plants and click the “Use” button next to the watering can icon.
  • Crows can appear in the plot and must be frightened by a scarecrow to have a 10% chance of gaining two sunflower seedlings.

You can water other players' plants up to 15 times a day for a 50 LE reward and scare the crows a maximum of five times a day.

Step 10: Harvesting LE

After a few days have passed and the sunflowers have matured, you can harvest light energy.

Navigate to your farm and pick the sunflowers one by one or use the “Crop All” button on the right.

After collecting LE, you can “Remove” the terrain and repeat the cycle with a different plant.

Plant vs Undead is a game that offers versatility. its Farm mode, which has recently been overhauled, will keep players engaged to earn energy and PVU tokens.

Furthermore, the option to purchase a free land is a powerful aspect to get new players excited about this play-to-win solution.
